Dear Hans:

\JI will be very glad to be a panel member discussing "Issues in Computer
Game Playing" at IJCAI in Cambridge this coming summer from Aug. 22-26.

In fact, this invitation may be just the thing that I need to get me back
into the Game business, having done absolutely nothing along these lines
for several years. Several new ideas have come to light since I last did any
work on Checkers and I really should refresh my memory about my
old program and fix it up in accordance with my newer ideas.

If I do get moving and do do something, I might like to submit a position
paper, but it does seem to be a bit late to be thinking about this. At
any rate I will be able to present my viewpoint in 5 minutes and I might even be
able to ask an embarrassing question or two, to get things started, that is, if
the discussion does not take off without such promptings.

Thanks for telling me that you are working on Backgammon and that you are trying
to use signature tables. Perhaps we should get togather, if at all possible,
to talk about this. Some of my current ideas relates to better ways to use
these tables.\.
